Professional Portfolio

The professional portfolio that you develop in this program is a collection of your work. Faculty serve as mentors as this portfolio develops. Each course contains a portfolio project that contributes to your final portfolio. Although your course instructor may request reviews by members of your committee, your course instructors determine the criteria for a portfolio entry. Course instructors and others provide feedback on your portfolio entries. The complete portfolio reflects the breadth and depth of your work in this program and becomes a valuable asset as you present your competencies and expertise to prospective employers.

The Portfolio includes:

  • Your resume
  • Statement of your professional goals
  • An empirical review of the relevant literature in you concentration area
  • An action plan that defines personal and professional goals and outlines a business proposal for developing one's own program on center related to human development
  • A policy analysis based on a critical human development issues of concern to you
  • An intervention that you plan and could implement and evaluate
  • A grant proposal that you submit to a funding source
  • A set of slides presenting your topic that integrates theory, research, and practice
  • Other course work projects
