All Masters students, with the exception of ALHRD students,
must complete 30 hours of graduate study and thesis or
project work, while Ph.D. students, with the exception
of ALHRD students, must complete 90 hours of course and
dissertation work. Masters students in the ALHRD program
are required to complete 33 hours of graduate study and

students and their graduate committees to match all University,
Department, and Content Area requirements with students'
individual interests.
To foster skills in and appreciation for research, masters
students take two departmental research methods courses
and two statistics courses, while Doctoral students enroll
in two research methods courses and six hours of statistics
(beyond the masters level statistics courses). These
are the departmental minimums upon which the rest of
a student's program of study is built. Additionally,
Masters students are required to select one 3-hour departmental
core course outside their major area of study, while
Doctoral students select two.
Masters and doctoral students will take the following
courses (or present evidence of having taken their equivalents)
related to research and statistics:

Science Methods I, II (3,3 credits)
All masters and doctoral students will take the following
two departmental courses in research methods:
HD 5514: Research Methods (3 credits, Fall Semester,
