Careers of Program Graduates

Numerous rewarding career opportunities are available for graduates of the Family Studies program. In academe, career options for graduates include teaching, research, administration, and the Cooperative Extension service. We have an excellent career placement record with recent program graduates in positions as research scientists and professors at well-respected peer institutions. Recent graduates are employed at institutions such as Michigan State University, Kansas State University, Drexel University, Western Michigan University, New Mexico State University, Arizona State University, and Radford University.

A wide range of career options also exists outside academe. Program development and evaluation, policy analysis and advocacy work, and administration and supervision in private and public human services agencies are just a few examples of careers outside academe. Recent graduates are employed as program directors and research scientists in governmental and nonprofit organizations.
