Cohort Year and Application Dates
The course times are arranged so students admitted in a cohort year can complete the pre-internship courses within one academic year. A cohort forms every two years (e.g. 2010/11, 2012/13). Students applying in a cohort year, apply through either Regular Decision or Late Admission.
Cohort Year Application
Regular Decision - Application Due: January 1
Students applying for Regular Decision are applying to begin the program during a cohort year, when all of the core courses are offered. Thus, a student can complete all the pre-internship courses within one academic year. Regular Decision allows you to know in advance, by April 15, that you are accepted in the program. Applicants not offered admission at that time automatically are placed on the waiting list and receive unbiased consideration during the Late Admission process.
Late Admission -- Application Due: April 15
Late Admission is similar to Regular Decision, but accommodates a later application due date. All of the core courses in the program are offered in the subsequent cohort year. Thus, a student can complete all the pre-internship courses within one academic year. Applicants for Late Admission are notified of the decision by June 15.
Between Cohort Year Application
Between Cohort Year Admission -- Application Due: April 15
If you apply in between cohort years, you can apply for Odd-Year Admission (e.g. 2009, 2011). The full set of courses is only available every other academic year (2010/11, 2012/13). Acceptance under Odd-Year Admission status, however, retains two advantages. First, an advisor is assigned to you who will assist in orienting you to the program and exploring your options. Second, acceptance under Odd-Year Admission allows you to begin taking some courses. With your advisor, you could plan to take 12 or more credits of coursework before the cohort year. These would include two or more concentration courses (6+) and, a statistics course (3). Alternatively, if you want to defer enrollment until the next cohort fall semester, Odd-Year Admission provides you with assurance of acceptance and allows you time during that year to make arrangements with work, family, or residence.
Future Year Applications 2010-2013
The entire set of core courses is offered every two years (2010-11, 2012-13). The dates for the various types of admissions follow the pattern above.
